Were are DTC Jan. 13th

We are offcially DTC (Documents-toChina) as of Friday the 13th.  Yes... that's Friday the 13th. Seems to be a lucky day  for us!  Our dossier is off to China, where it will be translated and then logged in at the CCAA. Once we get our LID our countdown begins.  We are very excited to have made it to this point, as all the bumps in the road made it seem like this day would never come.

It's Here!

The I-171H we have been anticipating for the last 4 months is finally here!  Our dossier is now complete, and off to the agency for authentication before going to China.  Words can not express our joy and hapiness today. One major milestone has been accomplished.  Next one will be DTC(documents to china).

INS Waiting Game

Homestudy Complete! and off to the INS this past week. We are now in the waiting period for our I-171 which is the US approval to adopt internationally. We anticipate that it should take about 4 weeks to get. This will be the last piece of paper we need for a completed dossier.  Once dossier is ready (notarized, state-certified, and authenticated) Off to China it goes, for translation and logging directly with CCAA! Then our wait for the refferal begins.

Progress

Well, we are almost there with our "paperchase", just waiting on a few more forms to complete.  Looks like we will be done with our dossier paperwork around same time as the Homestudy. We have actually made fast progress with gathering all our docs.  I anticipate that we should have everything ready by the end of the month to submit to our agency for initial review. Keeping fingers crossed anyway....

1st Homestudy Appt.

Our first Homestudy appointment, was very successful. This is just a "lets get to know each other" visit. Our SW gave us some forms to complete, and a checklist of documents that we will need to gather. Our next appointment will be in our home on Friday. This is expected to be about 2-3 hours, and will count as two visits. We will be interviewed individually, and together. The home will also, be inspected to make sure it is suitable.  Need to get a fire extinguisher, and clean...clean..clean..

Contract Signed!

Initial contract mailed! We are on our way...
Today we mailed off the contract to the agency, and the I-600A to US CIS. I got myself organized yesterday, and purchased a plastic 4-pocket binder to store all our original documents that we will need, and keep copies of our paperwork. Our first homestudy visit is tommorow at 2:30pm. Feel a bit anxious to get this first appointment done, which will be at the SW's office. I'm curious to know what we will need to prepare for the next visit which will be in our home
.
